WEDDING GUEST

Wedding Guest Dresses Appropriate for Any Ceremony

Wedding invitations are always super fun to receive.  After all, you will get to be a part of the
big day for someone special to you and we all know those memories are priceless.

What we are doing here today is to ponder the biggest dilemma all wedding guests think (and potentially stress) about:

What am I going to wear?!

Thankfully, SUPESU is here to help you with plenty of wedding guest dresses that can wow any ceremony WITHOUT upstaging the bride 😊

In the recent years, there has been a growing trend in opting for minimalistic weddings that call for smaller crowds and fashion that last beyond
a single event – think of those multi-use dresses that you can wear across multiple occasions without looking outdated or too reused.

With the support of our expert stylist, we’ve come up with a few key styles and considerations for you when shopping for your perfect wedding guest dress.

Best Dresses to Wear to a Wedding as a Guest

Step 1. In order to decide what to wear, you’ll need to get a proper gauge on the crowd and event space.  An outdoor wedding will have a distinctly different vibe than a formal
church wedding
, so dress accordingly.

Lighter pastels, bright muted florals or neutrals are more suitable for a day time wedding ceremony, while darker, bolder colors such as red-toned and navy-toned florals are more suitable for a night time wedding event.

Will it be daytime wedding in a park, backyard or on a beach?

If this is the case, you may want to consider rocking an elegant cocktail dress or comfortable, breezy mini dress instead. You can also consider a wrap dress in a pretty floral print.

Will it be a nighttime wedding in an upscale venue such as a luxury hotel or European castle

More formal weddings may require longer length dresses to match the mood and occasion.  You may want to consider an
elegant midi dress, silky satin slip dress, maxi dress, or even a well intentioned floor-length gown for the formal wedding guest dress look.

Step 2. Choosing Colors for Dresses for Wedding Guests

Color choice can depend on multiple factors such as the season, location, wedding
color theme and venue formality.

Spring and summer weddings and/or park & beach weddings call for dresses in fresh hues such as blush pink, mint green, light pearl gray, pastel purple and pastel blues.

Autumn and winter weddings and/or formal weddings call for deep colors such as forest green, navy, classic black or burgundy dresses.

A few color faux pas to consider when choosing dresses to wear to a wedding as a guest:

You don't want your wedding event dress to match with the bridesmaid dresses. You can get an idea of what the colors will be by looking at the wedding invitation card 😊

Do not wear colors that come close to what the bride will be wearing such as white, ivory, cream colored dresses.

Step 3.  It is also important to consider… how much food you will be eating at this wedding and how much effort do you want to hide your food baby.  While everyone is looking
their best for weddings, we all love that amazing feeling of unrestricted joyful non-stop consumption.

Nobody wants to restrict their drink and diet when there is free food and drinks on the table (courtesy of the fantastic bride and groom)!

When looking for dresses for food tummy, there are a few details you can keep in mind when choosing your wedding guest dress:

* Opt for dresses that are loose around the waist

* Opt for dresses with an A-line shape that crescendos out

* Opt for dresses with an adjustable waist so you can adjust discreetly as you consume more

* Opt for dresses with an elastic waist so the dress will naturally adjust as you consume more

Step 4. The final dress of choice
will always be a style that best flatters your body type and body shape. Ask yourself, what body type am I?

Are you a rectangle body type? Apple body type? Pear body type? Inverted triangle body type?  Hourglass body type?

Each body type will have different silhouettes and dress style considerations that will best flatter the body
type.  For each of our dresses, we’ve included body type recommendations to help you find the right style that can flatter your body type.

We’ve touched upon a lot of different considerations when choosing your dress as a wedding guest, so here is an easy quick summary for you to refer back to:
